5. Intellectual property

The site as a whole, and each of its elements (text, structure, design, layout, graphics, illustrations, screenshots, logos and the HelloSearch name) is protected by intellectual property law and remains the property of HelloSearch or of its rightful owners. No part of it may be reproduced, copied, adapted, translated, republished or used in any other way, in whole or in part and on any medium, without HelloSearch’s prior written permission. Quoting the site with a clear attribution and a link back is the one exception.

6. Personal data

HelloSearch is the controller of the personal data described below. The processing is governed by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and by the French data protection legislation.

What we collect

The site itself has no contact form and no account system, so it asks you for nothing. Data reaches us in two ways:

  • By email. If you write to us, we receive your name, your email address and whatever you choose to put in your message.
  • Through the booking link. Booking opens an external scheduling page operated by a third-party provider, under that provider’s own terms. The details you enter there, typically your name, your email address, your company and the slot you pick, are passed on to us so we can hold the meeting.

Serving the site also involves technical connection data. Our host processes it to deliver the pages and to keep the service secure.

One part of the pages is loaded from a third-party service rather than from our own servers: the web fonts used across the site. Your browser fetches those font files directly from that provider, which therefore receives your IP address, your browser type and the address of the page you are viewing. We use that connection for nothing else and we receive no data back from it. Every other asset on the site (images, icons and illustrations) is served from our own servers.

Why we process it, and on what basis

  • To answer your request and to prepare a possible contract: steps taken at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in replying to business enquiries.
  • To run the commercial relationship once it starts: performance of the contract.
  • To issue invoices and keep our accounting records: a legal obligation.
  • To keep the site available, stable and secure: our legitimate interest.

How long we keep it

Accounting and invoicing records are kept for the period required by French accounting and tax law. Other data is kept only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected for.

[TO CONFIRM: the exact retention periods for enquiry and prospect data, and for the technical connection data kept by the host.]

Who receives it

Personal data is used by HelloSearch and shared only with the categories of service provider we rely on to operate: hosting, content-delivery, team-communication, analytics and billing providers. They are bound by confidentiality and, where they process data on our behalf, act on our instructions. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for third-party marketing.

Our host is established in the United States, and the provider that delivers the web fonts described above is also established outside the European Union. Serving the site can therefore involve a transfer of data outside the European Union.

[TO CONFIRM: the transfer mechanism relied on for each of those transfers outside the European Union: standard contractual clauses, an adequacy decision, or another chapter V safeguard.]

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, to have it rectified or erased, to restrict its processing, to receive it in a portable form and to object to its processing. To exercise any of these rights, write to theo@tryhellosearch.com. We may ask for proof of identity where there is real doubt about who is making the request.

If you consider that your rights are not respected, you may lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority, at www.cnil.fr.

7. Cookies and tracking

This site sets no cookies of its own. It loads no analytics tool, no tag manager, no advertising pixel and no tracking script, and it stores nothing in your browser. That is why you are not asked to accept or refuse cookies when you arrive: nothing is written to or read from your device.

The scripts the site runs are the framework it is built with, plus a few small interface scripts of our own: they animate the “how it works” section, keep a row of blocks the same height, and drive the budget estimator on the pricing page. None of them store anything and none of them send data anywhere.

As set out in section 6, the web fonts are fetched from a third-party provider. That is a direct connection between your browser and that provider, so it sees your IP address. It places nothing on your device. It is still a third-party connection, which is why it is stated here.

The booking link opens an external scheduling page. Once you are on that page you are on a third-party site, which may set its own cookies under its own policy.

[TO CONFIRM: that no analytics or measurement tool is planned for this site. If one is added later, this section and the recipient categories in section 6 must be updated before it goes live.]

[TO CONFIRM: whether the web fonts should also be served from this site’s own domain. Every other asset already is. Self-hosting the fonts would remove the last third-party connection, and with it the transfer question raised in section 6.]

8. Applicable law

This legal notice and the use of this site are governed by French law. English is the language of this notice; if it is translated, the English version prevails.

The commercial relationship with our clients is governed separately by our terms and conditions of sale.
